Living her life in dog years, Erika was able to bark before before she could talk. She was raised by a German Shepherd named Prince, who helped develop her love for the breed, and she became involved in training with the German Shepherd Dog Club of Illinois at a very young age.
By age 14, she was competing in obedience trials, and handling German Shepherds in Sieger shows. In 2012 Erika stepped into the world of professional grooming, where she not only learned to express her artistic talents, but also further study multiple breeds and their genetics on a daily basis. Erika is also a Certified Canine Esthetician, specializing in Canine Skin and Coat Care. In 2018, Erika left Chicago for East Tennessee and opened Darlin Doggie Do’s in Maryville, where she specializes in all breed and rare breed grooming, as well as grooming pets with behavioral challenges. Erika also travels the country as a competitive groomer, as well as showing Wire Fox Terriers in the AKC conformation ring.
When she doesn’t have shears in her hand, Erika enjoys dabbling in several dog sports with her German Shepherds and Malinois, and is also loved by her Fox Terriers and a few of her rescue dogs. In 2018, she was introduced to Justin, who further mentored her with her personal working dogs, and as pet trainer. With experience in many areas of the dog world, Erika’s overall goal as a trainer is to help build relationships and create harmony between families and their pets.
